So, I've decided to blog my weight loss journey. Yes, now. 90+ days in. Hey, what can I say? I'm a late bloomer when it comes to ideas. But I've had so many people ask me what I'm doing to take off the pounds (30, as of yesterday), so figured I might as well document it here. It's pretty scary to do so...because my history with sticking to something is not very good.
I've gained over 50 lbs in the past 2 years. I'd like to blame it on depression, but frankly, the depression started as a result of gaining weight - not vice versa. I had hit 206 lbs as of February and talk about an eye opener - that's more than I weighed when giving birth to any of my 4 kids! That was it. The catalyst. I was sitting in my OBGyn's office and there was a sign about a medically-supervised weight loss program they were offering that was being run by her NP, so I decided to ask about it.
And here I am today.
I basically meet with my NP once/month to discuss my month - the food choices I've made, my exercise, etc. She is documenting my progress and ran blood tests prior to me starting (I had a sketchy liver enzyme number and low Vitamin D, but other than that, perfect health). So I'm anxious to see where those are at the end of May, when she does the bloodwork again.
Other than that, I've been seriously disciplined with my food (including virtually no alcohol for the past 3 months, with the exception of last weekend, when I had some wine - "some" being another word for "a whole bottle").
So, let's start with today's food:
Breakfast: scrambled egg with green pepper and onion
Lunch: 1/2 cup cottage cheese; 1 small red delicious apple
Dinner: 1/2 bowl chicken taco soup (recipe under Notes in Facebook). Topped with 2 tortilla chips, 1 TBSP shredded cheese and 1 TBSP sour cream (a girl has to live!).
Snack: 1 mozzarella cheese stick
Exercise: 2.5 miles hiking at brisk pace (appx 17:00 mm; hilly terrain)
Current Weight: 176.6
I hope those reading find this blog helpful in their own journey!
